pixar "one man band" and control of money
Basically music creates the emotions in almost all of the pixar short films, especially this one, thus the title,"one man band". Pixar really enjoys taking music and rhythm to make emotions for their animated characters. In this short film the "child" is drawn away from putting his gold coin into a waterfountain for some greedy musicians. Throughout the film I was just wondering who the kid was going to give the coin too. (I really wanted the guy with the drums). However, the video ends with the child as a genius getting a huge bag of money for playing the violin. The story didn't seem as realistic to me because of the child getting that huge bag of money. However, the film is an animation for children, so anything can happen. In my personal opinion, the point of the story was money rules everything, but it could also have been intelligence gets you money through the representation of the child as a genius muscian getting the bag of gold at the end. Either way the story, has somewhat realistic goals of life where money is extremely valuable along with education. However, the story is saying a lot about the society we live in today by showing money as desireful for many people as well as a meens of competition for others. Also a symbol for societies huge corporations represented through the, muscians, and how people, represented through the child, are fought for by industries because of their desire for money. I probably analyzed the film a little more than intended by the writers, but I feel that the representation is a major symbol of todays growing multibillion dollar corporations desire for control.
