SECTION 1

Some things that I contributed to the final piece was the script and putting together the write up with the scenes selected. I also was the main actor in our film (The assassin)
and also contributed to the development of certain, unique shots such as, the mirror shot.

I contributed to the coat and pants for the assassin to fit the theme of a generic hitmen with a coat and dress pants, more of the 007 spy, but not really. Also the use of sunglasses which shows the assassin's fine taste of eye wear (even though it was dark outside ).

Sun glasses just make spies have that sense of mystery and I just needed to wear them. In reference to the sunglasses, since it was dark outside I really couldn't see at all, but it was a sacrifice for the assassin's personality trying to look good killing (what better way to say you don't care about others? put on sunglasses).
I also contributed to the creation of plot events where the Hitman turns out to be the brother and the suicide of the brother as the ultimate film noir ending.

Overall the Project was a collaboration between me and Devan each with our own ideas, incorporating them into the film.

SECTION 2

In the beginning of our film we chose parts for different people. Me, (Mark) the Hitman, Devan (the boss) and Aaron as ( the Brother). Originally we were conflicted because neither myself nor Devan wanted the "humiliation" of commiting suicide as the brother (I was criticized for it) so we got someone else who was really reliable and was the only person we could think of, Aaron to portray the part, (its the hair) anyways I did the main character because I was tall, apparently I have "A really scary face in light" stated by Devan and looked like a spy with a coat, slacks and a pair of icy sunglasses. Thus I played the assassin and I think I played well as one, giving the role a little bit of realism through acting and costume. All of our actors were able to convey their parts when required and were able the captivate the audience, from the opening scene to the suicide. We had a little speech, but that was to convey the assassin and his life style as "a man with few words" (we also wanted to keep the movie simple). All dialogue was chosen specifically for the characters mostly used to portray different situations of the main characters and brother. We also tried to attain quality over quantitiy by striving towards 100 percent at all times to make the personality and excitment constant. Also filming in consecutive days helped keep the roles and personality of characters "fresh" in the minds of the actors. The plot of the story brings you along with obscure, discreet, opening events, which gradually become clearer as the story unfolds. Eventually the plot leads to the death of the brother of the assassin, which has film noir characteristics and remains the theme throughout the entire film. Even the music has film noir characteristics involving mystery and ominous fortunes implied through the low monotone of the violin in the background. In the beginning of the film the music is played at normal volume and is faded throughout the rest of the film where the voices and key noises of actions are heard lucidly. This helps incorporate the background of our film as well, where we incorporated lights dimmed to influence the mood of our film as mysterious and all props and background is meant to be seen. Also the use of night for the kill, where night is connotated with ominous events and peril. However, we had one small screw up in the beginnig where we forgot to take down an, I love mom sign, when the asssassin is meeting with the mob boss, we just like to pretend the Mob boss loves his mom. We also incorporate closeups to important props and objects in each seen to making each clearly visible. Also the realism in the gun used by the assassin was a key prop in our film which made a very realistic cocking noise. In our film we excluded mics and unwanted shadows simply through the use of final cut pro. Through the use of final cut pro in our film we created a title scheme that captured the mood of our film, but did not hold the suspense and emotion that I wanted to start the audience off feeling. Overall the title was brief and short conveying the message desired, not detering from the film's visual content. Our camera angles all followed the 180 degree rule when characters were talking to one another. We also used dolly tracks to get the outfits and expressions of different characters in the film as well as zoom, to show objects of attention by characters. All camera moves work well with the film and seem flawless. However, audio was somewhat of a disaster. Since we recorded different lines on seperate cameras the words spoken by the characters and the actions start at different times and the exuberance of characters is off from the voice. All shots constitute logical placement in correspondence to events happening in the film. Shots are clear when switching to opposing views making the scenes congruous to others before it. Also the scene where Aaron is pulled up by the assassin looks pretty good in terms of shot transition. All scenes have enough information for the reader to grasp the idea of the shot.

SECTION 3

This film demonstrates the film noir genre with it's mysterious plot and characters, gloomy ending, this films embodies key aspects of film noir. In the beginning of our film we have a mysterious man who the reader know little about, eventually revealing a dark struggle between hitman and brother, Mafia and family. This assasssin brings the viewer into the dark struggles of society where things do not always have a happy ending. (Aaron's death/the brother's suicide)
